A Conversation with My Future Self
I recently did a guided meditation where I visualized my future self.
If you’ve never done something like this, it’s a powerful way to find clarity, direction, and sometimes, the reassurance you didn’t know you needed.
Meeting your future self is like coming home to a wiser, more experienced, super-supportive version of you. Who better to turn to for advice, right?
In my guided meditation, the question I asked myself (her) was, “When?”
“Soon,” she replied.
I realized immediately that my success depends on embracing my personal power. Throughout my life, I've often waited for good fortune to arrive at my doorstep like an Amazon Prime delivery. But my success depends on me. That doesn’t mean it must entail blood, sweat, and tears. It simply means bringing my best self to all whom I encounter and all I do.
Life consists of a series of moments. Therefore, I need to show up for myself repeatedly for it to make any difference. Consistency is key. By waiting for things to happen to or for me, I am disempowering myself. I have to choose ME if I want others or opportunities to.
My dear, wise future self knows this. Even though she said, “Soon,” I understood her meaning. She knows I’ve entered a period of awakening in my life. She realizes I’m finally getting it. Her “soon” was also a message of encouragement: “Keep up the good work. Keep at it, Girl. You are on the right path. Success is yours for the choosing. If you choose YOU, over and over again.”
That means:
Not hitting snooze.
Showing up early/on time for things.
Being prepared.
Doing the workout.
Respecting commitments and deadlines that matter to me, not just work-related.
No more multitasking. Giving everyone and every task my full attention in the moment.
Recognizing that every challenge is there for my growth.
Stepping outside my comfort zone.
Choosing me is recognizing that I am worthy—and allowing myself to feel powerful.
I just wanted to share this reminder with you. Always choose YOU, too.
Maybe “soon” isn’t about timing.
Maybe it’s about how you choose to show up—today, and again tomorrow.
Because the future version of you?
She’s already there.
She’s just waiting for you to choose her.
